LO4 Task 2: feedback and feedforward for practice presentation

Review
By using this feedback, we will be able to prepare better for our final presentation. we just need to enhance the detail spoken about the legal and ethical considerations section of our project. we will condense the presentation into fewer words and add supportive imagery, as our audience felt the presentation was too text heavy, and felt best if we talk more from memory instead of using the board for infomation. It has been suggested that we should bring a greater focus on the local film scene as well to fit with Sheffield Live!'s community radio theme; so we will plan a special 'Sheffield' episode where we could interview local film talent from directors and actors to students and film critics (this should fit in well with other projects as we have easy access to acting talent) Finally, we need to mention where each respective show would fit into Sheffield Live!'s broadcasting; what time they would be broadcast and what their particular market position would be.

LO3 Task 5: Sample audio for manter

Embedded Audio

For our Manter project, we chose music that reflected the comedy and informal/relaxed chat; so the relaxing lounge 'elevator' jazz music fit appropriately. We looked at soundtracks that were available royalty free, meaning we do not have to pay license fees for the use of the music in the show. However for this particular theme, there is a Music Broadcast Licensing Fee of $28 we must purchase in order to broadcast the music as the Theme song for Manter over the Radio. All details can be found on this website.

This one minute extract includes the chosen music as well as example dialogue:

LO2 Task 4: Additional Information

In todays lesson, I will be completing the additional information as part of my treatment

Content Of The Show

The presenters will be myself, Jake Dungworth and Harry Swallow and we will review and talk about general film related topics both mainstream and local. the chat will be informal and we will go off topic and talk about related content like actors, actresses and news surrounding them.

The jingles will be recognisable if we relate them to sounds or famous film quotes, like the pulp Fiction soundtrack or a quote like "I'll be back" by Arnold Schwarzenegger from the film "The Terminator". This will take licensing and a posable PRS licence copy right permission permitted.

The show will be pre-recorded and myself,  Jake and Harry will take take note from both fans and critics as well as our self's when it comes to picking our list of films to Analyse and talk about.

If music is necessary we will both relate the music to specific films or an overall theme for the show and to do so will will try to work our way around the copyright issue by finding free copyrighted music sources from places like music websites or specific YouTube videos.

Examples of questions and issues raise for interviews

interviews and talks with possibly local people interested or apart of the film industry will potentially be interviewed by myself, Jake and Harry as a part of a holiday, one off special (6 weeks, christmas, easter holidays etc) also we will make the episode specific to the guest involved like for instance, if we talk about blockbuster films and have a local actor as a special guest on our show, we will switch the topics and questions to relate to him as a local, smaller, independent actor.
Examples of
Actors: Wilson Davis, Luke Goddard,  Joe Gilgun. (local actors)
Companies: Warp, BFI, Steel City Media

Styles of music used

If music is necessary we will both relate the music to specific films or an overall theme for the show and to do so will will try to work our way around the copyright issue by finding free copyrighted music sources from places like music websites or specific YouTube videos.

Advertising

When relating to adverts, we will try to keep them to a low (as it is community radio). but if they are necessary, Sheffield live all ready have a similar film related show that we possibly could take content from if given approval. We will advertise small companies such as local businesses like Showroom cinema, Wok 2 Work and Tillies Cafe

LO2: Task 3: Summary Document

Name: STEEL REEL PODCAST/THE REEL THING (Lewis)
  • The Steel Reel podcast/The Really Reel podcast
  • The appeal to the audience is both the connection between "Steel" to connect to a community, Sheffield based audience and "Reel" instead of "Real" to show that its film related.
Purpose
  • The podcast will both inform and entertain because we will be informing listeners on topics, genres, news and rumors about the film industry and it will entertain because the film industry in general is a popular source of entertainment so we all ready have that covered.
Content
  • The presenters will be me and Jake Dungworth and we will review and talk about general film related topics both mainstream and local. the chat will be informal and we will go off topic and talk about related content.
  • The jingles will be recognizable if we relate them to sounds or famous film quotes.
  • The show will be pre-recorded and myself and Jake will both take take note from both fans and critics as well as our self's when it comes to picking our list of films to Analise and talk about.
  • If music is necessary we will both relate the music to specific films or an overall theme for the show and to do so will will try to work our way around the copyright issue by finding free copyrighted music sources from places like music websites or specific YouTube videos.
  • When relating to adverts, we will try to keep them to a low (as it is community radio). but if they are necessary, Sheffield live all ready have a similar film related show that we possibly could take content from if given approval.
Target Audience and Demographics
  •  Were not looking for a specific age group and sex to target our podcast at as our product can relate and entertain both male and female as well as connect to a wide target audience. Because we don't know specifically yet what films were going to talk about in our show, we have decided to leave our age open to all ages. When it relates to RAJAR figures and the NRS system, were not looking to target a specific age range or group of people so were open to all people listening.
Audience Profile

  • Steve is a 21 year old male with a keen passion in films and radio. Steve often spends his times watching any film he can get his hands on, but primarily tries to watch all types of films he hasn't seen before as Steve doesn't specifically like one genre, he likes them all. Steve enjoys going to the cinema with this friends, Jason and Ryan but from his low income as an apprentice graphic designer so often can't afford to pay for the luxuries of the silver screen. Because of this Steve's been looking for a way to get around this problem, possibly looking for a radio show or podcast that expresses film related content, simply to full fill Steve's needs. Steve's been primarily looking for a podcast around the times of 5:00pm to 6:00pm to listen too as this both fits in with Steve's schedule of being an apprentice graphic designer, working late hours. And a podcast will more likely provide the opportunity to download so if Steve misses an episode, he can catch up on it later. Steve lives in Sheffield and also supports local film companies and enjoyed films filmed in sheffield. Because of this Steve's also been looking for a podcast that may touch on the subject of local independent films and film companies like Warp films and movies such as 4 lions, Dead mans shoes and This is England.

Name: STEEL CITY PODCAST (Jake)
Purpose
A music and talk podcast that aims to entertain a targeted audience with a half hour of the best music from selected genre preferred by the hosts. This could vary from sub genres of house

Content Summary
This podcast will be hosted by Lewis and Jake and will be generally informal like related music talk shows such as Urban Expression and Vancouver Manoeuvre, 2 shows on Sheffield Live! that specialise in genres and music related chat. Our plan is to air the podcast weekly between 8:00 and 8:30 pm at the beginning of the weekend. This attracts audience members who have finished work for the week and starts the weekend with the latest and greatest music generating excitement for parties or nights out etc. Taking inspiration from Hallam FM, jingles for our show will be played in different styles based on the genre of that particular show. For example, if we decided to stick with the house genre, our jingle could be like a DJ announcement which would remind and reinforce the genre of what the audience are listening to. One of our priorities would be to interview local music personalities that could use our show to get their name spread; primarily via self advertisement and in studio live playing. Music played on the show will be copyrighted and therefore the broadcasting party will require a license allowing them to play music. Advertisements during the show will reflect the audience personal interests such as local nightclubs, new album releases and branded merchandise; clothing chains such as Super-dry and Hollister.
Target Audience and Demographics

We will be generally targeting a younger demographic, between 18 and 30 who are most likely to associate with the genre of our show; modern house inspired hits. In terms of social grade and income of our listeners, if our show had been commercially made with the purpose of selling or advertising then it will have been most beneficial to aim at the upper tier, ABC1 Profile. This is because they generally earn the highest annua
